Ashoka University MA Economics Entrance Admission Process


Once the notification is out for Ashoka University MA Economics Entrance Exam, then the applicants need to fill in an online application form through their website within the stipulated timeframe. Further, an applicant cannot submit more than one form in one admissions cycle. When the applicants submit their respective application forms, there are two stages in the admissions process:


Stage 1

All the applicants have to appear and give an online Entrance Examination.


Stage 2

All the applicants who clears / passes the entrance examination, they will be invited for an Online Interview Round. The purpose of the interview round is to check/ judge the applicants suitability to the MA Economics course.


Ashoka University MA Economics Eligibility


The applicants who want to apply and pursue MA Economics Course from Ashoka University, are required to have a recognized undergraduate degree in any discipline. An undergraduate degree in Economics is not a prerequisite for entry to the program.


Direct Entry Admission - The students who graduated from Ashoka University with the Economics major or the interdisciplinary Economics and Finance major, a CGPA of 3.6 and above are eligible for direct admission to the course. These students only need to submit the application form.


Ashoka University MA Economics Entrance Exam Pattern


According to the information provided by Ashoka University, the entrance exam structure is objective and it will consist of multiple-choice questions. The entrance exam will test applicants compulsorily on statistics and analytical reasoning. Further, the applicants will be required to choose either the section on mathematics or the section on economics.

Measures of Central Tendency and Dispersion; Elementary Probability Theory; Random variables; Special Discrete Distributions like Binomial, Hypergeometric and Negative Binomial; Special Continuous Distributions like Uniform and Normal; Joint Discrete Distributions; Sampling Distributions, Interval, Point Estimation and Hypothesis Testing for Population Means, Proportions and Variances.


Mathematics

Elementary Set Theory and Logic; Functions; Limits; Continuity; Differentiation; Integration; Single and Multi-variable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Constrained optimization


Economics

Microeconomics

Choice, Preferences and Utility; Consumer Theory; Producer Theory; Perfect Competition; Monopoly and Price Discrimination; Edgeworth Exchange Economies; Welfare Economics; Externalities.


Macroeconomics

National income accounting; Keynesian Model of income determination and the multiplier; IS-LM Model; Models of aggregate demand and aggregate supply; Rational expectations; Solow model of growth; Money, banking and inflation.


Analytical Reasoning

This particular section will test candidates on their ability to study and process a given set of information logically to arrive at a decision, or make an inference, or find patterns. Answering these questions will not require prior training in any of the established disciplines.
